Nick Millican recalls how Alexandra Wall left her home in Wales and headed to London. She decided to move to study fashion in one of the world’s fashion capitals. When her education was over, Alexandra thought she was lucky when she obtained a job for a streetwear clothing brand.
However, after nine months of working 16-hour workdays and being paid basic expenses, Alexandra felt overworked and underpaid, Nick Millican shares. Hoping for a better housing experience, Alexandra quit and took an internship position. She hoped to find a better-paying job in fashion eventually, but that didn’t happen.
Alexandra then took the time to think about either staying in London or going back home. Staying in London meant working jobs that paid low wages and possibly going into debt. Alexandra chose to move back to Cardiff, Wales. Nick Millican keeps on stating that though Alexandra moved to Cardiff, she didn’t give up her dream to work in fashion.
After brainstorming ideas, she currently runs a digital pattern library and owns Xandra Jane Designs. Though she first rented a flat for a year, Alexandra then moved in with her boyfriend and his family. This gave her the opportunity to save money, but in 2021, Alexandra bought a £163,000 modern two-bedroom house (Varsity).
The real estate agent adds how Alexandra loved the London lifestyle and culture but is aware that she would have never been able to purchase a house in London with her employee salary. The two-bedroom house is just temporary as Alexandra and her partner plan to build their own home on her partner’s family farm. Real estate expert Nick Millican often sees that first-time buyers have to leave London for other locations or think up new strategies to afford to purchase a house.
