Kate Robertson’s Ambition for One Young World: A Transformative Leadership Vision

Kate Robertson, co-founder of One Young World, is calling for a significant shift in global leadership. She envisions a world
where the G20 leaders are not just seasoned politicians but also ambassadors of
One Young World, an organization known for fostering young leaders.

Robertson’s experiences growing up under apartheid in South Africa and witnessing the
transformative leadership of figures like Nelson Mandela have greatly
influenced her perspective. Kate Robertson believes that the inclusion of younger voices in
global decision-making could address persistent challenges like climate change
and inequality more effectively.

One Young World, co-founded by Robertson, has become a prominent platform that empowers young
individuals to share ideas and collaborate on solutions to pressing global
issues. The organization’s impact report for 2022 highlights that over 5.7
million people have been positively influenced by its ambassador-led projects.
This extensive reach underscores the potential of young leaders in driving tangible change.

In a recent interview, Kate Robertson emphasized the importance of ethical and effective leadership. She pointed out
that the current generation is the most informed, educated, and connected in
human history, making them well-equipped to handle global challenges. However,
she also noted that the older generations need to support and then step aside
to allow these young leaders to take the helm.

One Young World’s initiatives, such as the Lead2030 funding program, have provided substantial
financial support to young leaders working on sustainable development goals. In
2022 alone, $875,000 was awarded to 17 prize winners from 12 countries.

Robertson’s vision for One Young World extends beyond mere advocacy. She sees the organization as
a necessary bridge to a future where youthful innovation and empathy guide
global policy. Her dream is for G20 leaders to embody the principles of One
Young World, ensuring better leadership for a better world. Follow this
