RAINN: Supporting Survivors of Sexual Assault and Abuse

RAINN, the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, is the largest anti-sexual violence organization in the United States, providing critical services to survivors of sexual assault and abuse. Founded in 1994, RAINN has made significant strides in increasing awareness about the issue of sexual violence and providing survivors with access to the resources they need to heal.

One key aspect of RAINN’s work in education, as RAINN President Scott Berkowitz, highlighted in a recent interview. He emphasized the importance of educating the public about the realities of sexual violence and how to support survivors. Additionally, RAINN has partnered with colleges and universities across the country to provide prevention education and training to students and staff.

Another recent development for RAINN is the addition of Jamila Sykes to their board of directors. Sykes is a healthcare management executive with extensive experience in the healthcare industry, and her expertise will be invaluable to RAINN as they continue to provide critical services to survivors of sexual violence.

RAINN has also taken steps to ensure that its services are inclusive and accessible to all survivors, including members of the LGBTQ+ community. Their resource guide for LGBTQ+ survivors provides information on how to access specialized services and support, as well as tips for navigating the legal system.

In addition to its support services, RAINN also operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline, which has provided assistance to over four million people since its inception. The hotline is staffed by trained professionals who can provide crisis counseling and connect survivors with local resources for additional support.

RAINN has been at the forefront of the fight against sexual violence for nearly three decades, and their work has made a significant impact on the lives of survivors across the country. As they continue to provide critical services and raise awareness about the issue of sexual violence, RAINN remains a vital resource for survivors and their loved ones.
