Justin Fulcher stepped back from RingMD in January 2025, nearly a decade after building the first version of the platform from a prototype with no company name and no investor materials. What he left behind was specific: 1.5 million patient records, a provider network of 10,000 healthcare professionals, and active operations across more than fifty countries. Clients ranged from hospital systems and insurers to the Indian government’s Digital India program and the US Indian Health Service.
What a Decade of Building Produced
The US Indian Health Service partnership stands as one of the platform’s most concrete demonstrations of reach. Through that relationship, RingMD served approximately 2.6 million American-Indian and Alaska Native individuals across 37 states. The Indian government partnership extended the platform into one of the world’s largest and most complex public health systems. Both relationships required the compliance infrastructure Justin Fulcher had built after the company’s 2019 US relaunch: FedRAMP Moderate, FISMA, and HIPAA certifications running on AWS.
The path from a nineteen-year-old’s prototype in Singapore to those client relationships covered more than a decade of deliberate construction. Justin Fulcher had left South Carolina and Clemson University behind to travel Southeast Asia, where he spent seven years watching communities with smartphone access but no healthcare access. That observation became the founding logic for RingMD. The platform was incorporated in Singapore, expanded across Southeast Asia, and eventually sold in 2018 to partners who moved the headquarters to Boston and relaunched the product in the American government market.
Along the way, Forbes named Fulcher to its 30 Under 30 Asia list in 2017. RingMD’s partnership with PROVision Partners International extended the platform into the hotel and cruise industries, offering coverage to travelers for as little as two dollars per traveler per night. When COVID-19 arrived in 2020, Fulcher offered a white-labelled version of the platform free to healthcare organizations worldwide.
