Cirque du Soleil is a Canadian entertainment company best known for its productions of live theatrical shows, called ‘Cirque du Soleil,’ which translates as “Circus of the Sun.” This company produces many different types of live entertainment shows, commonly consisting of the circus arts. Cirque du Soleil was founded by two Quebecors, Guy Laliberte and Gilles Ste-Croix. Laliberte was originally a street performer for the Montreals street fairs, and Gilles Ste-Croix is an entrepreneur from Quebec (Gagnepain). Together they were two of the main characters in breaking through the North American market with their new fresh perspective on circus arts.
