Tom Keane has been part of the Microsoft team for over 20 years. He has most recently been spearheading the launch of Azure App Service. This new app platform enables developers to build, deploy and manage any apps across any device with our cross-platform cloud tools.
He has worked on several products, such as SharePoint and Office, in various team roles, including at Microsoft, where he implemented and helped architect the first private clouds and hosted environments. At Microsoft, Tom Keane led teams building cloud infrastructure for commercial and government customers including:
Designing data centers certified to run infrastructures for NASA’s Mars rovers Spirit and Opportunity, General Motors’ OnStar system, and the U.S. Navy’s Fleet Forces Command. Other customers include DHL, Wells Fargo, Kraft Foods, and the U.S. Missile Defense Agency. Before joining Microsoft , Tom Keane started his career as a government contractor, designing and leading the engineering teams for new projects for the Department of Energy and NASA.
Tom Keane recalls how Azure is committed to its customers’ missions. Now more than ever, the security and reliability of Azure’s infrastructure are foundational to our mission. “The U.S. Department of Defense has a long history with Microsoft, and we continue to provide them with the most trusted technology so they can continue to meet their mission,” said Tom Keane, Corporate Vice President, Re-Engineering Business in the Cloud at Microsoft. “With Azure Government, we provide critical infrastructure that enables our customers to accomplish their missions. And we have worked hard to prioritize Azure’s security in the development of Azure Government.”
