Doug Haynes offers consultation services for private and public institution leaders. He is the president and managing partner at The Council. Doug served in various senior roles before founding The Council. Most recently, Doug served as the President at Point72 Asset Management, a premier equity hedge fund in the USA. Haynes had several achievements in his four-year tenure at Point72, such as outperforming its peers, establishing the firm’s venture capital wing, creating the most significant single capital raise in the industry, and restoring the founder’s license.
Before joining Point72 Asset, Mr. Haynes worked at McKinsey & Company, where he served for 22 years. Doug worked in the design engineering and software development departments. McKinsey & Company gave Doug his first opportunity to act in a significant role. Mr. Haynes says he used that opportunity by enriching and building relationships with others. Doug believes it was his chance to interact with people from all over the universe.
Doug Haynes believes he achieved more career-wise during his 22-year service at McKinsey & Company. He says it is where he learned many new things, including how to deal with clients and colleagues. Doug led the global operations practice and Northeast Region of the USA while at McKinsey & Company. He also helped in developing the company’s approach to technology-based services.
Doug also served as a software developer at Ge’s Plastics Business Group and the US CIA before joining the Darden Graduate School of Business. He says he found out that a business course was more interesting than what he had already studied, engineering, computer programming, and mathematics.
Mr. Doug Haynes has contributed to several non-profit foundations. He believes donations are a blessing as they are one of the skills he learned while working at McKinsey & Company. His philanthropist is dedicated to three primary foundations. They include Robin Hood Foundation, which focuses on reducing poverty in New York City, Camp Southern Ground, and Cohen Veterans Network, which provides mental hygiene services to veterans and their families. Doug serves as a board member at Villanova University, Randolph Macon Academy, SingTel Corporation, and the Canterbury school.
